Born in 1951, Muneaki founded Tsutaya Bookstore in 1983, before establishing the Culture Convenience Club (CCC) in 1985. CCC now owns Tsutaya, which has become a chain of video-rental, electrical-appliance and bookstores across Japan. In recent years, CCC opened the Daikanyama T-Site commercial complex, to propose a new lifestyle to over-50s. They also started to operate Takeo City Library in 2013, and in 2017 created what they aim to make the world's best art bookstore.
To create a new “cultural infrastructure” including TSUTAYA BOOKS, T-card, and T-SITE, Muneaki is working hard as a manager of a planning company.
