Tristan Murphy was born in northeast Ohio, just hours away from the motor city, Detroit. He attended the Cleveland Institute of Art, where he received his BFA in industrial design, with a focus on transportation.
Upon graduation, he started work at General Motors in 2006 as an exterior designer. After rotating throughout exterior and interior studios, Tristan landed in the Full size Truck studio, competed and won with his interior design theme selected for the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon. Following that program Tristan was named lead interior designer for the 2016 Camaro. Coming off the success of the Camaro, Tristan was named the lead interior designer for the 2020 mid-engine Corvette. Tristan penned the design, and led the team through to production.
By 2019, following the completion of the Corvette, Tristan was promoted to Interior design manager for Cadillac. He currently serves in this role on various future products.
