Dave Marek is Executive Creative Director for Acura. Since beginning his career at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. (HRA), Marek has contributed to the designs of its North American-developed products for more than 25 years.
In his current leadership role at HRA, Marek is responsible for all designs of the Acura brand globally. Most recently, Marek brought the brand’s Precision Crafted Performance to life overseeing the designs of the second-generation NSX and 2019 Acura RDX.
In his previous role as HRA’s Design Project Leader, Marek led the design for a number of milestone products, such as the 1994 Honda Accord Wagon, 1997 Acura CL, 2003 Honda Element, and 2006 Honda Ridgeline.
Marek earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design, graduating with honors from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California. He continues to be involved with his alma mater to this day, including serving as an instructor since 1989, bringing numerous ArtCenter-sponsored projects to the California Department of Transportation, and being elected to the ArtCenter Alumni Council.
Marek is a supporter of various museums across the country, including the Petersen Automobile Museum, The Gettysburg Foundation, The California Railroad Museum, The NHRA Museum, and The Pearl Harbor Memorial.
Marek’s work has been published in various enthusiast magazines, including Road & Track, Racer, Street Rodder, and Car Graphic, as well as online at zero2sixtydesign.com and showrods.com. Marek also has created fine art and graphics for various championship racing teams, including Honda Racing.
